The Portrait in Watercolour with Stefano Flonta
Workshop Description: In this interactive one-day workshop, Stefano will demonstrate how
he approaches the execution of a watercolour portrait, from start to finish, covering topics
such as subject selection, composition, tools/materials, and techniques.
Participants will have the opportunity to apply these concepts under guidance.
Date: Thursday 4 th April Time: 9.30 to 4.30
Venue: Lady Franklin Gallery
Cost: $50 members, $60 non members
Materials: Please bring your own colour reference photos. They can even be on a mobile
phone. Obviously larger and clearer would be better. Some people would be keen to paint
something familiar to them, but Stefano will bring some to use as well.
? Several sheets of watercolour paper, about A4 size or larger,  cold pressed if possible
and a board and tape of not using a block.
? Brushes including small rounds (4 or 6 if possible),  1/2"- 1" flats/filberts, and a quill
mop. Synthetic or squirrel.
? A mixing tray and cup for water.
? Some paper towels.
? Graphite pencils (2B or HB, mechanical is fine), eraser/sharpener.
? Set of watercolours. Pans or tubes. At least a basic set of 8. Stefano uses Sennellier,
Windsor and Newton and Daniel Smith.
